Safety at Sea: Focus on the Raymarine Quantum 2 Radar

Résumer cet article avec :

On a boat, a radar can see the danger where your vision stops. Whether during the day, in fog, or at night, a good radar identifies the position of the targets (a yacht, a boat, a ship…) encountered by echo, displays them on the screen, and thus reduces the risk of collision . It is therefore a valuable safety tool for sea trips.

The Raymarine Quantum 2 radar is the latest addition to these collision avoidance technologies. It detects targets that are distant as very close (down to only 6 meters, or 18 feet). It displays moving targets with color coding to better track them (fixed targets are easily differentiated from moving targets). It can be operated in manual mode or in automatic mode. The Raymarine Quantum 2 is also capable of giving audible alerts. It turns on in seconds. In a busy sea area, it is simply essential.

The Raymarine Quantum 2 can also display the history of the wake of each moving target (« True Trails » function). It is a plus to understand the trajectory of other vessels and make wise maneuvering decisions. It consumes little energy, and can be installed on cable or with Wi-fi.

Finally, it is particularly easy to install, since it accepts the same bolting configuration as other scanners in the same range (Raymarine).
